भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने नोटबंदी के बाद महंगाई बढ़ने की आशंका जताते हुए डिजिटल भुगतान को सुरक्षित बनाए जाने की आवश्यकता पर बल दिया. इसके साथ ही रिजर्व बैंक ने कहा है कि अर्थव्यवस्था पर नोटबंदी का जो अस्थायी प्रतिकूल असर था वह काफी हद तक कमजोर पड़ चुका है.
रिजर्व बैंक के एक पत्र में ‘नोटबंदी के व्यापक आर्थिक प्रभाव’ पर एक प्रारंभिक आकलन रिपोर्ट का हवाला देते हुये कहा गया है कि नोटबंदी से 15.6 लाख करोड़ रुपये मूल्य के नोट चलन से बाहर हो गये. लेकिन अभी उस करेंसी का सटीक अनुमान नहीं लगाया जा सका है जो पुराने नोटों के रूप में बैंकिंग प्रणाली में लौटी है क्योंकि इसकी गणना और मिलान प्रक्रिया अभी जारी है.
पत्र में कहा गया है कि नोटबंदी का अर्थव्यवस्था के विभिन्न क्षेत्रों पर असर पडा है. हालांकि, इसके साथ ही केंद्रीय बैंक ने कहा कि इसका प्रतिकूल असर कुछ समय के लिए ही था, जो नवंबर-दिसंबर में महसूस किया गया. रिजर्व बैंक ने कहा कि नोटबंदी का असर फरवरी के मध्य से कम होना शुरू हो गया. बैंकिंग प्रणाली में नयी करेंसी आने के साथ नोटबंदी का असर अब कम होना शुरू हो गया है.
